French Intent

Learning a foreign language is a necessary part of being a member of a multi-cultural society and opens the doors to a world of opportunities. We want to provide the children with exciting and active French lessons which will develop their love of learning of all languages.

Through the three pillars of phonics, vocabulary and grammar, children will acquire the knowledge they need to be successful and confident in French. We aim to embed the essential skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing in engaging ways as well as helping children acquire a bank of rich vocabulary organised around relevant topics.

We want children to appreciate and enjoy stories, songs, poems and rhymes in French as well as being able to write phrases from memory. By learning a modern foreign language, we hope this will challenge our children to become more confident and curious individuals.
