Spring Letter to Parents
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a half term it has been!
We have been in full swing learning wise with children learning about Rainforests and why they matter to us, the Ancient Greeks, magnetism, how to look after the heart, the impact of the industrial revolution on our lives and many, many other topics. All year groups really have explored the world, how wonderful it is and what we can do to make it even better.
I am really proud of our curriculum. We have worked hard to make it real and relevant to the children as well as build in high aspirations for what they can go on to achieve. Currently Mrs Gibson is working hard on a strategy for developing careers education. This aims to show our children even from the youngest of ages the possibilities that are out there and we will keep you updated with its progress.
We are all working hard on catching up on lost learning and there are a variety of interventions running that are complimenting daily Maths and English. Next term will be parents’ consultation evening and we are very hopeful it can progress in person.
World Book Day is the first week back on Thursday 3rd of March 2022. On this day we are sharing stories with the children and celebrating the importance of a bedtime story - not just for the immense educational benefits, but also for the precious, magical and important shared moments too. On this day, the children can come to school in their PJs and bring their favourite bedtime stories with them. Classrooms will be turned into places that celebrate story telling, cosy settings, cushions and, of course, hot chocolate.
Thank you for your continuing support this year. We have navigated some peculiar times and continue to do so. The staff here have been amazing this term and have really pulled together to cover classes, serve dinners, support in after-school clubs all at the drop of a hat and I can’t thank them enough.
I hope you and your family have a lovely half-term and I look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 28th February 2022.
Best wishes,
Mrs Hirst
