STEM Session - Electricity
In November, we welcomed Amit from Cummins into our school to run an interactive session with Year 4 where the children learn about how electricity is generated.
They used hand crank generators to power cars around a Scalextric track. The children found out that the quicker they turned the handle the faster the car would travel. They also discovered that keeping the handle at a constant speed helped. If they made short, sharp bursts, the car jolted forward and stopped. Steady turning of the handle helped to generate more speed.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Amit for all the support he gives West Park Academy by volunteering his time.
