Educational Visits
Educational visits and visitors bring our curriculum alive. We ensure there is a carefully thought through overview of activities that both enhance the curriculum and provide a memorable learning experience.
Our visits/visitors are rooted in our vision for the curriculum to deepen our understanding of who we are, where we come from and who we want to be.
Examples of visits include:
- Durham Cathedral
- Bowes Museum
- Segedunum
- The Life Centre
- Darlington Hippodrome
- Broom House Farm
- Thornaby Mosque
- Newcastle Synagogue
For non-residential activities taking place during school hours, e.g. half or whole day visits, voluntary contributions will be sought from parents of participating pupils. Our Trustees are in agreement that no child will be excluded because of inability to pay, but if there are insufficient funds, visits may not be able to go ahead. For children for whom we receive Pupil Premium, the Academy will provide a 20% subsidy for residential educational visits and extra-curricular activities.
For some visits ie Robinwood Activity Centre, parents will be able to spread the cost over a longer period of time and this timescale will be provided in the letter regarding the visit.
