Principals June Letter

11th June 2024

Dear Parents/Carers

As we enter our final half term of the year, we have a lot of exciting activities and events going on.

On the 1st June 2024 we merged with Lingfield Education Trust. We are excited to be part of this strong and growing trust that can only further enhance what we do.

Staff have been working hard to ensure that our children have many positive experiences. Last week we had an incredibly successful STEM week with children completing a huge range of STEM related activities with both staff and visitors from an array of different industries. Many thanks to everyone involved for the time and effort they put into making this week such a success, particularly Mr Fraser who liaised with all of the STEM ambassadors and visitors to put the timetable together. Photos will be available on the website for you to see some of what was going on.

Today we have had our annual Colour Run. This is not only really fun but promotes enjoyment in sport. Even the weather couldn’t dampen our spirits with staff and children all involved. We hope that you enjoy the photos of the event. For our commitment to PE, we have been awarded Platinum status, one of only three schools in Darlington to be awarded this. A fantastic achievement and well done to Mrs Black for all her hard work on this.

Our work in the arts has also been recognised with us receiving Arts Mark Silver. Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools and education settings and is awarded by Arts Council England. Well done to Mrs Telford for pulling all of this together.

For a list of all forthcoming activities including visits, the Summer Fayre, sports days etc, please have a look at our newsletter on the school website.

I look forward to seeing you over the next few weeks and we will try to get as many photos as possible on the website for those of you who are unable to attend.

Best Wishes,

Mrs S Hirst

Principal
