STEM Club goes global!
Tuesday was an exciting morning for the children of STEM Club. The club are building an electric racing car and on Tuesday some of the children hosted a Q&A session with people from around the World about their car!
West Park Academy has been running the Electric Racing car project for several years building their race cars with Mr Fraser and Amit from Cummins. This year we have gone international as Cummins have shipped one of the Goblin Car Kits to an orphanage they support in Uzbekistan. The children there, are going to build their own race car. Throughout the project the STEM Club of West Park School will collaborate with Children from the orphanage in Uzbekistan and share ideas of making the cars better!
To eliminate the language barrier, we are being supported by Russian/English Language Teacher and Interpreter for this project – Valentina, and Amit’s Russian/English-speaking colleagues - Gaukhar (CAN-AGRO – Kazakhstan) and – Kanat (TOO Cummins Kazakhstan). During the call today they asked our pupils a range questions about how the car is built and how this has impacted on their career aspirations. The children were a little shy at first but warmed up during the meeting. We are looking forward to the next session with the group from Uzbekistan.
Mr Fraser would like to thank everyone involved, particularly the children, for their enthusiasm in STEM Club and Valentina for her help with translations!
